New footpaths open in Cobham Wood

PDF Print E-mail
waymarker5km of permissive footpaths have been created in Cobham Wood, giving visitors the opportunity to explore lesser known areas of this historic landscape.  Four trails link into the existing network of public footpaths, and have been marked with coloured posts.  The locations of these routes will also be marked on a number of boards situated around the site, including the Darnley Mausoleum and South Lodge.

The trails are open from September.  A downloadable map showing the location of all accessible footpaths in Cobham Wood is available here.

Guided walks have recently been run, starting from Strood and Cuxton, to show people first hand the location of new routes, and to explain the landscape management taking place in Cobham Wood.  Over 25 people took part on two walks, with the very-nearly-restored exterior of the Darnley Mausoleum providing a major point of interest along the way.
